RX owners wrap mostly to protect a high-resale luxury crossover and to escape the sea of factory silver, white, and Nebula Gray Pearl that dominates Lexus lots, without the permanence of a respray on a car they plan to trade or lease-return clean. The unique angle on an RX is its heavily sculpted "spindle" front end and pinched floating-roof C-pillar, so a wrap is as much about taming sharp body sculpting as it is about color. Many are also leased, so owners want a fully reversible color change that leaves the OEM paint untouched at turn-in.

What a Lexus RX wrap costs

The RX is a full-size vehicle — roughly 290 sq ft of wrappable surface. A full color change starts from $3,750, with lettering and partials from $550$17/sq ft up to 50 sq ft, $15 up to 100, $13 for larger jobs, $550 minimum, never a flat badge rate. The price tracks square footage and install hours on the RX itself — not the badge on the trunk.

Model-year note. There is a hard generation break inside this window: the 4th-gen AL20 (2016–2022, including the longer 3-row RX L from 2018) versus the all-new 5th-gen AL30 (2023–2026), which lengthened the wheelbase, dropped the RX L, and replaced the chrome spindle grille with a body-color "spindle body" front end. Templates and die-lines do not carry over across 2022/2023, and even within the 4th gen the 2020 refresh tweaked the fascia and grille mesh, so confirm exact model year before cutting. Wrapping a Lexus RX: panels & install

The RX is a panel-gap-heavy SUV: the deep spindle-grille creases, the blacked-out floating-roof trim around the C-pillar, and the strongly flared rear fenders all demand relief cuts and seam-tucking rather than single-piece pulls. The clamshell-style liftgate, roof-rail channels, and the trim seam where the rear pillar meets the quarter glass are the spots that fail first if not wrapped into the recess and post-heated.

Finishes for your RX

A satin or matte finish flatters the RX best because its busy creases and convex fender forms read as elegant under a low-sheen film, whereas full gloss on those same lines tends to throw harsh highlights and exaggerate every body-line. Satin metallics and gunmetal-style grays are the safe, premium-looking choice; color-shift works on the smoother 5th-gen flanks but fights the sharper 4th-gen folds. Owner tip for your RX

From our install bench. The RX's spindle grille and that sculpted L-finesse crease down the doors trap edges, so insist on proper relief cuts there rather than stretching film over the body line. The floating roof pillars also need their own panels wrapped separately for clean wraps.

Lexus RX wrap FAQ

Can you wrap the chrome spindle grille surround and trim on my RX, or only the painted panels?

On the painted body panels yes; the chrome and gloss-black grille pieces on the 4th-gen RX are usually best removed and wrapped off the car or left factory, since film over textured grille mesh and tight chrome returns lifts over time. On the 5th-gen, much of the spindle is body-color plastic and wraps cleanly along with the front clip.

Will a wrap hurt my Lexus paint or cause issues when I return my lease?

No — quality cast film is removable and actually shields the factory paint from sun and rock chips, which matters on the RX's large hood and front fenders. As long as the original paint is healthy when applied, it peels off at lease-end and leaves the OEM finish underneath in better shape than an unwrapped car.

How much does it cost to wrap a Lexus RX?

A full color-change wrap on a RX — about 290 sq ft of full-size surface — starts from $3,750, with partials and lettering from $550. Coverage, finish, and how complex the design is move the number — the badge never does. Get a real number on our Get Started form.

How long does a RX wrap last, and does it come off clean?

A quality cast-vinyl wrap on a RX lasts about 5–7 years with care. Garaged and hand-washed, a RX holds the upper end of that range; baking in the Sacramento sun pushes it lower. Removal stays clean and paint-safe. Every install carries a 60-day workmanship warranty.
