Partial Wraps & Spot Graphics in Sacramento
· Updated

A partial wrap covers part of your vehicle — a hood, a roof, a few panels, or a logo-and-lettering set — instead of the whole body. In Sacramento it starts around $550 and is priced by how much film and design time the job takes. It is the cost-effective way to brand a work truck or style a personal car without paying for a full color-change wrap you are not ready for.
We are Art Printing Vehicle Wraps, a Sacramento wrap and graphics studio at 5051 College Oak Dr. We do everything from a single door decal up to a full bumper-to-bumper print — installed in-house by our own team. If you want your name on the road but a full wrap feels like too much money or too much commitment, start here.

Coverage tiers — from a logo to a half wrap
Coverage is the lever that sets the price. The more of the car you cover, the more film and labor go in. Here is the ladder, lowest to highest, with what each one is for:
- Lettering & decals. Your name, phone number, and logo cut from vinyl and applied straight to your paint, which stays as the background. The lightest, cheapest level of branding. A window cleaner on Reddit put it plainly: magnets got a couple of calls in three months — the day the van actually says what you do, it works. See vehicle lettering & decals for that level on its own.
- Accent / spot graphics. A hood wrap, a roof wrap, mirror caps, a racing stripe, a single bold panel. This is styling, not just signage — the way to change a car's character without recoloring the whole thing.
- Partial / half wrap. Whole sections in printed or colored film: the lower body, the doors, the rear quarter, or one full side. Enough coverage to read as a designed vehicle from across a parking lot, at a fraction of full-wrap film.
- Full wrap. Every panel, bumper to bumper. When you are ready for it, that is a full color-change wrap.
Pricing by coverage — you pay for the film you use
Here is the part most shops won't show you up front. These are starting points; final cost depends on coverage, finish, and how complex the design is.
| Coverage | Starts at | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Lettering & decals | From $550 | Name, number, logo on bare paint |
| Accent / spot graphics | From $650 | Hood, roof, mirrors, a stripe or panel |
| Partial / half wrap | From $1,200 | Lower body, doors, rear quarter, or one side |
| Full color-change wrap | From $2,500 | Every panel — see full wraps |
Priced by coverage, never by badge. A partial wrap on a Tesla costs the same as the same coverage on any same-size car. Fair, transparent pricing here. For the full-vehicle picture, see vehicle wraps in Sacramento or the Sacramento wrap cost guide.
The entry point to branding — start small, build up
Most of our small-business customers don't start with a full wrap. They start with a name and number, see it pull in calls, then add an accent or a half wrap as the work pays for it. That is the smart order, and we design for it: the lettering you buy today is laid out so the accent you add next year lines up with it.
The one honest caveat is color drift. Film ages, and a panel wrapped two years after another can read slightly different in direct sun. When someone upgrades to full coverage, we usually wrap fresh over everything so the whole car matches. We'll flag that trade-off the moment it's relevant, not at the invoice.
When the wrap's life is up — or you sell the car — premium cast film installed on sound factory paint comes off cleanly — a partial wrap just as cleanly as a full one. That is the upside of using 3M and Avery Dennison film and installing it right. See our wrap removal & care page — removal service runs $75/hour, and it covers a single accent panel just as it covers a full body.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a partial car wrap cost in Sacramento?
A partial wrap typically starts around $550 for simple lettering and accents, climbing with coverage toward a half wrap. You pay for the film you use plus design time, not a full car you don't need. A full color-change wrap, by contrast, starts around $2,500.
Is a partial wrap cheaper than a full wrap?
Yes — less film, less labor, lower price. It is the cost-effective entry to branding or styling. The one catch: design time doesn't shrink as fast as coverage does, so a small intricate graphic can cost more than a plain larger panel.
What's the difference between a partial wrap and lettering?
Lettering and decals are cut vinyl — name, number, logo on bare paint, with paint as the background. A partial wrap covers whole panels in printed or colored film. Lettering is the lightest level of branding; a partial wrap is a step up in coverage and impact. See vehicle lettering & decals.
Will a partial wrap or accent damage my paint?
Not when installed and removed correctly on factory paint in good shape. We use premium film and back it with a 60-day workmanship warranty. Note: an accent on a hood or roof sits in direct sun and may age a touch faster than vertical panels.
Can I add to it later or make it a full wrap?
Usually, yes. Many businesses start with lettering, add accents as the budget grows, then go full. We design with that path in mind. The caveat: panels wrapped years apart can drift slightly in color, so a planned full upgrade sometimes wraps fresh over everything.
