Defender owners wrap for two reasons that pull in opposite directions: protecting a tall, expensive body that gets used hard off-road, and cutting through the sea of identical white, Pangea Green, and Gondwana Stone trucks in the school pickup line. The L663's slab sides and flat hood are a genuinely good canvas, so a color-shift or a muted military-style satin reads as intentional rather than loud, which is the angle most owners want.

What a Land Rover Defender wrap costs

The Defender is a full-size vehicle — roughly 310 sq ft of wrappable surface. A full color change starts from $4,050, with lettering and partials from $550$17/sq ft up to 50 sq ft, $15 up to 100, $13 for larger jobs, $550 minimum, never a flat badge rate. The price tracks square footage and install hours on the Defender itself — not the badge on the trunk.

Model-year note. The 2020-2026 run is all one generation (L663), so core door and panel templates stay stable, but Defender 90 (two-door, shorter wheelbase), Defender 110, and the longer Defender 130 each need their own die-lines because flank length and rear-door geometry differ. The V8 and trim-specific variants also change lower-cladding, grille, and badge details, so confirm exact body style and trim before cutting rather than assuming one 2020-2026 template covers all of them. Wrapping a Land Rover Defender: panels & install

The Defender's near-vertical doors, flat roof, and tall flanks wrap cleanly with long uninterrupted pulls, but the exposed body-color D-pillars, the squared wheel-arch flares, the side-hinged rear tailgate carrying the spare tire, and the optional roof-mounted side gear carriers add fussy edges and compound corners that eat install time. The Gondwana Stone and other textured/satin factory finishes have a slightly grained surface, so panels need extra cleaning and a primer wipe for the adhesive to bite.

Finishes for your Defender

The boxy, upright sheet metal and large flat panels make this one of the few SUVs where matte and satin earth tones actually look factory-correct rather than aftermarket, so satin khaki, satin gray, or a desert/olive matte is the strongest pick. If an owner wants flash without going garish, a subtle blue-to-purple color-shift works because the broad flat hood and doors give the flip enough surface area to actually travel and show. Owner tip for your Defender

From our install bench. The Defender's boxy panels and that flat clamshell hood are easy wraps, but the raised side gills, alpine roof glass surrounds, and exposed door hinges trap edges that lift on the trail. Owners love satin gray and bronze; wrap the rear ladder and spare-tire bezel separately.

Land Rover Defender wrap FAQ

Can you wrap over the textured Gondwana Stone or satin factory finish on my Defender?

Yes, but those finishes have a fine grain rather than a smooth gloss, so we do extra surface prep and an adhesion-promoter wipe on the edges to keep the vinyl from lifting. It wraps fine; it just isn't a peel-and-stick job over that texture.

Do I have to wrap the spare tire cover and the plastic wheel-arch flares too?

The rear-mounted spare cover can be wrapped or left, but most owners do it so the tailgate looks continuous. The matte-black flares and lower cladding are textured plastic, so vinyl doesn't hold well there and we typically leave them as-is rather than risk peeling.

How much does it cost to wrap a Land Rover Defender?

A full color-change wrap on a Defender — about 310 sq ft of full-size surface — starts from $4,050, with partials and lettering from $550. Coverage, finish, and how complex the design is move the number — the badge never does. Get a real number on our Get Started form.

How long does a Defender wrap last, and does it come off clean?

A quality cast-vinyl wrap on a Defender lasts about 5–7 years with care. Garaged and hand-washed, a Defender holds the upper end of that range; baking in the Sacramento sun pushes it lower. Removal stays clean and paint-safe. Every install carries a 60-day workmanship warranty.
