Model S owners wrap to do what Tesla's paint shop never offered: only a handful of factory colors have ever existed (and the deep reds/blues are tri-coat options that are murder to color-match after a panel repair), so wrapping is the realistic path to a non-stock look. The car's slick, low-drag body has very few hard creases, which means a wrapped panel reads as remarkably uniform and "factory" — and a full wrap protects the soft, easily-marred clearcoat on the frunk lid and front fascia that takes the brunt of highway debris on a car driven at sustained speed.

How much does it cost to wrap a Tesla Model S?

Expect from $3,200 to wrap a Model S. It is a full-size vehicle — about 300 sq ft of panels — and Sacramento pricing runs $13–$17 per sq ft, $550 minimum, with print production adding 2–3 business days before install.

The Model S is a full-size vehicle — roughly 300 sq ft of wrappable surface. A full color change starts from $3,200, with lettering and partials from $550$17/sq ft up to 50 sq ft, $15 up to 100, $13 for larger jobs, $550 minimum, never a flat badge rate. You pay for the film and the labor it takes to cover your Model S, never a flat number copied from a bigger or smaller vehicle.

Three limits worth knowing before you book a Model S wrap. 1. The roof and hood age fastest — 3M rates Series 2080 at 7 years vertical but only 2 years horizontal in our climate zone, so flat panels fade first. 2. A wrap covers paint, it does not repair it: on peeling clear coat or filler, film can lift the surface on removal, so we inspect before quoting. 3. Removing an old wrap is billed separately at $75 per hour, and cheap calendared vinyl left past its life takes the longest.
Model-year note. There are two die-line eras inside 2012–2026: the original nose carried a body-color "shield" then a blanked-off grille, while the major 2021 "Plaid"-era refresh restyled the front fascia, lower bumper and the entire interior, and a 2016 facelift had already swapped the early black-nose tip for the smooth fascia — so verify which front end you have before cutting, as the fascia and lower-bumper templates differ across those splits. Tell us your year so we cut and quote to the right die-lines.

How long does it take to wrap a Tesla Model S?

The Model S is mostly large, gently curved aluminum panels with long unbroken flanks and a frameless-glass roof on most builds, so the hard work is the deep compound curve where the hood/frunk meets the fascia and the recessed handles — the pre-refresh flush-pop door handles and the 2021+ fixed handles both need careful relief cuts and post-heat so the film doesn't lift at the pocket.

Wrapping your Model S takes 1–3 days in our Sacramento shop after 2–3 business days of print production. The 300 sq ft of panels are wrapped individually, with film tucked into edges and recesses rather than trimmed flush, so nothing lifts at the corners.

From our install bench. The Model S frunk lip and frameless door tops are where edges lift first, so we wrap deep into those seams. Many owners pick satin to mute the long sculpted flanks; just know the flush door handles need careful relief cuts before they'll present flush again.

Which wrap finish is best for a Tesla Model S?

Satin or a satin-metallic flatters this body best: the long, smooth sides have almost no character lines to catch a gloss highlight, so satin gives the shape definition without the orange-peel-magnifying glare of gloss, while still hiding the minor waviness aluminum panels can show. Color-shift also works well precisely because the uninterrupted flanks give the flip enough surface to actually travel across.

Every Model S finish is cut from 3M Wrap Film Series 2080 or Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film — cast vinyl rated 5–7 years in Central Valley sun. Gloss, satin, matte, chrome-delete and colour-shift all cost the same per sq ft; the finish changes the look, not the price. Whichever you pick, upkeep is the same: hand wash with pH-neutral soap, no wax or polish, and leave a fresh wrap unwashed for 48–72 hours while the adhesive cures. Tesla Model S wrap FAQ

Should I wrap the glass roof or leave it?

Leave it — the panoramic/fixed glass roof is part of the structure and tint, not a paintable panel, so we wrap up to the trim edge and stop. Wrapping over glass isn't done; if you want a darker roofline we mask to the glass and finish the surrounding pillars and rails.

Will a wrap cause problems with the flush door handles or the sensors?

No, but they change the install. The pre-2021 auto-presenting handles get wrapped or trimmed around the pocket so nothing fouls the mechanism, and we keep film clear of the B-pillar/handle cameras, parking sensors and the front-bumper radar area so Autopilot and the cameras read cleanly.

Is a partial wrap cheaper than a full wrap on a Model S?

Yes, and proportionally so. Coverage is what you pay for: a full colour change on a Model S covers about 300 sq ft, a partial roughly half that, and lettering or decals around a fifth. The per-square-foot rate is identical — $17 up to 50 sq ft, $15 up to 100, $13 above, with a $550 minimum — so half the coverage really is close to half the price. Final price depends on coverage, finish, and design — never a flat badge price. Get a real number on our Get Started form.

How long does a Model S wrap last, and does it come off clean?

A quality cast-vinyl wrap on a Model S lasts about 5–7 years with care. Because the Model S is an EV with soft factory paint, the wrap doubles as protection; on healthy paint it removes clean with no adhesive left behind. Every install carries a 60-day workmanship warranty.
